My Greek Project 2

Greek Food

Greek people believed that food had a lot of religious meaning. They did not eat meat unless it had been sacrificed to a God or had been hunted in the wild. They did not think it was right to kill and eat tame animals that they kept at home without sacrificing it to the gods first.

They grew their own vegetables, mostly beans, peas and lentils.

The ancient Greeks ate a lot of fish, probably because they did not like to sacrifice animals.

They also drank a lot of wine.

Theatre

The Greek people invented lots of things that are still a part of many peoples’ lives to day, including the theatre. They were built of stone and looked like lots of curved steps. They could seat up to 10000 people.

Rich people had to pay the wages of the actors who performed the plays in the theatre.
